The department was established in the year 1986. The department has well qualified faculty members with three doctorates and with an average experience of 16 years. The department has two well equipped laboratories to facilitate the students to carry out the experiments.
The department has BGS R&D center which was established in the year 2011. The department R&D center has basic facility to carry out research activities. Two faculty members of our department have completed their Ph.D. at our R&D center in the year 2021.
Dr. Sreenivasa K is the Head of the Department of Chemistry, with 26 years of teaching experience. He earned his Ph.D. from Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) in 2021. His academic contributions include the publication of twelve research articles in reputed national and international journals, and presentations at several national and international conferences. He serves as a Board of Examiner for VTU (2024-2027) and is on the Board of Studies for PES College of Engineering, Mandya (2024-27). He has been recognized as a research supervisor under VTU in 2024 and is currently guiding two research scholars. In addition to his research, he has authored Engineering Chemistry textbooks and several book chapters. He is a life member of the Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE) and actively participates as a coordinator and member of various departmental and institutional committees.

The college is situated on Bangalore – Hyderabad National Highway-NH7, 45 kms from Bangalore city about, 20 kms from Kempe Gowda International Airport (Bangalore International Airport) and about 5 kms from Muddenahalli, the birth place of Sir M. Visvesvaraya. The famous hill resort Nandi hill is about 15 kms from the college.
